Baked Cinnamon Apple Chips

Sweet crisp apple chips are a great healthy snack. I love apple season and sometimes find that I acquire too many apples and this is a fantastic way to use extra apples and make an easy snack you can feel good about eating and feeding to the family. You might want to plan ahead as these take 2 and 1/2 hours in the oven to crisp up and make your house smell divine while baking.

Is it just me? I have a small shaker where I keep cinnamon-sugar stored in my pantry. I hardly ever use it, just in case of a cinnamon toast emergency! But this recipe is perfect for using my shaker to sprinkle cinnamon-sugar over the apple slices. Easy and delicious!

2-3 apples of your favorite kind
1 1/2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon

Slice the apples into very thin slices. The thinner your slices, the crisper the chips will be. Preheat oven to 200 degrees F.

Line two baking sheets with silicone baking mats or parchment paper, then lay the apple slices out evenly in a single layer.

Combine the sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle each apple slice with the mixture. Bake in the oven for 1 hour. Then turn the apple slices over and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes more. Remove from the oven and let chips cool for another 30 minutes to 1 hour to crisp.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
