Basil Pesto Sauce

I got a bunch of fresh basil in my veggie box & had to make some fresh basil pesto sauce. I have only made fresh Carrot Leaf and Garlic Pesto sauce in the past so I was excited about this recipe.

The basil I got was about 4 ounces & was close to 2 cups packed, so I went with it.

2 cups fresh basil, packed
3-5 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup pine nuts or chopped walnuts
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
6 to 8 Tablespoons olive oil or hemp oil

Put everything except the olive oil into a food processor or blender and process until finely chopped, stopping the machine periodically to scrape down the sides, as needed. Add the olive oil to the mixture and process until smooth, scraping down the sides of the bowl periodically, about 4 to 5 minutes.

Can be served on toast, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, mixed with mayo, in potato salad, etc. The pasta in the photo below is called Strozzapreti, it is a long, S-shaped pasta.
